Taste of Maplewood 2016
May 23rd, 2016
Our first Taste of Maplewood; we learned a lot!!! Before this we had only done pretty small events – usually no more than a few hundred people. With this we were looking at crowds in the THOUSANDS!! We had no idea what we were in for. So we talked to a few Maplewood business owners who had participated in the past to get a better idea of what to expect. That was incredibly helpful! We also recruited some excellent family and friends to help out as having 2 people work a booth for 12 hours wasn’t really feasible. We could not have done it without their help!
We had a great location right in front of Saratoga Lanes on Sutton (just a few blocks north of where MAUHAUS will be opening!!). The weather was beautiful though a bit on the hot side. We wanted to offer some unique beverages so we decided on Vietnamese Iced Coffee and Thai Iced Tea. These were huge hits! The Vietnamese Iced Coffee was our big seller! It was a risk for us because they each need to be brewed individually and take about 7 minutes per order. We had a pretty good system in place and were brewing constantly so when an order was placed there would likely be a cup ready to go.
Huge thanks to our friends and family who helped out. Special thanks to our moms for being such amazing cheerleaders for us and bringing new folks to our booth!
Shout out to Maya Cafe for having the most delicious empanadas on the planet. They kept us going through the day!
